Adidas Pinner Goggle

Product in Review: Adidas Pinner Goggle
Frame: Lime Green
Lense: Clear with Tear off Tabs
Price: $149.99au

With the Yeti All Mountain Gravity Enduro Series in full force this summer I needed to make sure I was ready for what ever conditions were thrown at me. I wanted to make sure that I either have Sunglasses or Goggles to protect my eyes, giving me no excuse for not being able to see. I have seen the pinner goggle becoming more and more popular more on the Downhill scene. If they were trusting a goggle to get them down the hill with perfect vision I thought well that a good enough reason for me to use them.

First impressions:
  • Looking at the goggle the nose piece looks roomy and very accommodating for a lot of different noses.
  • Its a light felling goggle at only 106g.
  • Tabs for tear offs.
  • Elastic strap with rubber non slip ribs on the inside of the straps.
  • Straps that sit out from the frame.
  • Dual foam on the face pads, Black one is comfy and soft on the face with no irritations, Silver is a more breathable foam to assist the anti fog out.
  • Anti Fog lense.

  .

So there are some quick facts on the goggles now how did I find them?
With a few adjustments of the strap the goggles fitted snugly into my Downhill helmet. The strap is easy to move up and down whilst getting it into place. There were no pressure point that were standing out as the entire goggle was touching all of my face. My breathing was not restricted even after a long run of the Whistler bike park. Once I stopped riding I didn't have them fog on me as I was expecting this to happen. Even in the heat of the day riding I didn't get sweat drips running down my face nor did the pads become soaked in sweat. The way the goggle were breathing was winning me over. I sweat a lot and to have none of these issue happen was awesome.

They passed the Downhill test now for the Super-D Enduro test.

Not wearing the DH helmet as Its not compulsory the XC helmet came out for the race. Having only worn sunglasses with this helmet I was very interested to see how they went. With the rubber grip on the straps and the soft elastic straps the goggles fitted like a glove. My helmet was still in the correct spot and didn't cause any annoyance once on my bike. They stayed where I put them and my vision was not impaired at all. It was a great combination for the Myrtelford round of the Enduro series. Dry dust was on the cards that was like riding threw cloud of dust from some one doing circle work in front of you. In our race run the heavens opened up and turned a dry track into a slick roller coaster.

So over all summing the goggles up. They are worth every penny and gave me confidence to go as fast as I could down the trail with out restricting my view. No Fogging, light and gave me full vision. Thumbs Up!

Chillcotins Day Trip

With the physio telling me that I was at 80% I went out for a xc ride later that day and felt better than I thought I would. The bike had a rest for the next few days and then at 10:30 at night I got the call to get ready as there was a Chilcotins ride happening tomorrow. For those who don't know the Chilcotins. The Chilcotins region of British Columbia is located between the Coast Mountains and the Central Interior of the Province. You can Float plan into the Tyax lodge and Drive two different ways to Tyax. From Whistler its around a 2:30 drive up over the Hurley. 5:30 the alarm rings and its time to get up for another adventure for the weekend.
We were at the drop off point at around and on the bikes around 10:30. Sunny time and good times fallowed!
Always ready to get rid of a branch/tree!
All smiles when you are in the Chilcotins!
Shane having a go on my bike and he was rather stoked on how much fun the Element msl 70 is.
Top of the world. Well it felt like it that's for sure after a solid push up to the saddle. We had a great crew come up and we went from 8 to 19 people in a group. Never a dull moment with these guys just a fun happy bunch that makes the ride even better.
Our ride up past Taylor Cabin led us into yet another long epic climb that is climbable if you have the power. We all gave it crack but no one made it as there was plenty more riding to be done. As you are so remote out here some times you don't want to make the climb because you need to save energy to last the entire journey.
Looking back at the climb.
Still a bit of snow at the top of windy pass but the sun was nice enough to poke its head out.
Josh the man that can sleep anywhere. I have no Idea how he does it but he does!
Just to prove that I was out on the bike and not spending all my time behind the camera.
Its all about the Wildflowers up here!

Should you come up here for a ride! 4 shaw you should any one who makes the trip to whistler has to try and fit this in to there diary!
Just another typical view whilst you have a break and take in all of the Chilcotins wonders.
The descent out of windy pass is amazing and makes it super hard to stop and take pictures. We chose to ride it and put the camera away so we could keep the flow and take all in.
Shale slopes that will be waiting for the next adventure.
Getting the trucks all packed up and ready for the drive home from the epic day trip!
With my second ride under my belt I'm getting that riding felling back and will be back firing on all cylinders in a few more weeks. The road is only going to get faster and funner from here on in.

What have I been up to and where I'm at!

I have had a lot of things going on over the past few month. Now things are rolling along and summer is here I'll be sure to keep you all posted with what I'm up to more often. For now you can sit back and check out some riding and some no riding pictures.

Woops no so lucky getting into the states but I now have a new 2 year visa for Canada.
Josh and had to tick of a pitch and put round at Stanley Park. Made my day and highly recommended if you have never been get down there its a awesome time!

Then new ride for the season. One of the bikes that has helped me get back to where I am now.
This ones for you Mr Ross. With Cyclocross season in full swing back home I decided I needed a little cyclocross fix my self. Why take the easy road when there is a hard one that is way more fun!
The second bike that has helped on my road to recovery.
What is it that I have to do at physio? Well there are so many different ways to push my foot its hard to remember. Here are a few pic of what they get me to do. It's eye opening to see how and what you can do when you need to. In this picture I have to stand on a flat soft pad and roll the other red ball with my good foot from in front of me to the side and back again.
The same exercise just this time I have to stand on a flat ball and be totally balanced.
Toonie race, Local Xc race that helps support the whistler trails and local businesses. We helped run this race where part of the race course was to ride up the 2010 winter Olympic sliding center.
Fun times on the guided trips with the lakes flooding paths due to the sun coming out and showing the white stuff whos boss!
What better way to spend a weekend. Hanging out with a awesome crew in Sunpeaks for a relaxing long weekend.
All aboard the party truck!
What better way to greet your mate for his birthday than with some high quality beer goggles!
If tree hugging hippies wasn't enough for you then car hugging drunk candain girls are a new one to put into the mix!

What better way to sped a weekend when you cant ride a play some golf.

Seth showing the practice ball who is boss and letting the trees know they have a ball coming there way!
Sam cam out and just about sent the ball into next year.
Me sizing up what bird was going to feel the wrath of the golf ball!
I did Get some riding in over the trip. Rio in Kamlooops was loads of fun flow and made me work twice as hard on the little bike!
Just another High quality old school diner for some last min grease.
Not your every day was room!
Well if you forgot to wipe you could always chuck in a $1 and go for a full body scrub.
One of the more advance physio games for me to play. I have to balance with one foot, control the electrodes oning threw my leg and then throw a ball against the wall and catch it!

All in all I have been keeping my self busy playing golf, physio and just relaxing. Now the Physio has told me that I'm now at 80% of a realistic goal of 95% so there will be more riding stories coming your way.

I just want to thank all of those who have helped me out and stuck bye me threw out my recovery. Friends, Family and the Sponsors/Supporters, Rocky Mountain Bikes, Adventure Brands, 4shaw, Adidas Eye wear, Chromag, Torq. Rest of the mates you all know who you are and I look forward to riding full speed with you all very soon!

Houseboating Time!

When you get a msg asking "do you want to come house boating for a log weekend on Shuswap Lake?" your ears pick up and you mind goes into a cartwheel! Hell yes!! Was my response so two weeks of waiting and then it was on for young and old. Getting out of the whistler bubble is always fun and when you are with 18 other mates it's always going to be a party.
Start of the drive was a bit chilly. Leaving after work we headed up thee 99 with Kamloops in our sight. Paul was ready for it and nothing was stopping us from getting there.
One week prior to us driving over the Darcy there was a slide that covered the rode. Crazy to think its meant to be summer.
Time for a dinner stop and we came across some locals who were making light of a situation where a water main burst some 2 weeks ago and was not fixed yet.
Just some lazy fishing during duck season. Dam hippies were in my was trying to stop me from catching them!
If you are on a road trip make sure you get timbits its the best way to keep the ladies happy! winning at this point.
Shane decided to get things started and wanted to see what the slide was like. The start of the trip greeted us with an nice 16deg and over cast conditions.

Trying to find our house boat and we cam across this one that was not looking so healthy.
We pulled into a lunch spot and a group of oldies told us to head up the trail to check out the water falls. Albas water falls were wild, they were so powerful to look at and not a hope in hell of paddling them. You come down a trail either on the left or the right. I did whip my self ou ton the bridg but thankfully no re injury to my self!

Quick video of just how much water was roaring down the water fall!

Just another shot of the water falls.
If you forget something chances are this floating shop will have it!
Paul dropping in!
Paul getting the job done on the slide! If only you all could have heard the girlfriends scream at the guys for riding the bike in the water! It was pricless!
The final day came with blaring sunshine and people nursing the last of there hangovers.
Shane, Matt and I just hang out the back seeing if we can catch some fish for dinner!
What do do when you captain jumps ship with a bike? do what he does and go in the drink after him!
Waiting to get the final ok to go home a lazy 6 hr drive!
Kamloops never disappoints, this guy was walking past us with 2 ski poles helping him get his power walk on!
Its hard to stay on the road when you dive the Duffy. No matter how many times you dive into and out of Lilloet there is something new, be it a riveryou have never seen  or a story you that goes with a mountain you were unaware of.
